Sure, but no harm in some chatter too. I remember reading Gandhi's autobiography and thinking, Man, this guy is WAY too serious and conscientious about everything. Hard to imagine him engaging in small talk
I too am an avid night taper (thanks to the book, “Breath”), and have found it makes a difference with quality of sleep and helped clear any sinus issues I had. It was a bit claustrophobic at the beginning, but well worth sticking it out. I wish I could use the daytime technique on some of my students. 😅
Ha, it's a universal impulse. Of course nowadays it's mostly the students who want to muzzle the teachers. But that's another tale...
I just looked up Breath. Thanks for mentioning it, I'd like to read it. As for autobiographical: the night taping, very much so; the day taping, very much not so (probably too much not so)
I very much enjoyed this. I did tape my mouth shut while sleeping, and have had the thought, that there are times where taping my mouth shut might benefit all, mostly my wife. Happy to report, different results than your story. Thanks for the read!
Thanks, Ben, I appreciate that. I'm always preaching mouth taping (just for sleep!) to friends but I rarely get any takers. The line about the guy not even napping without reaching for the mouth tape was straight up autobiographical...
Thanks, Alex. Much appreciated. Dental guard? I thought that was more for grinding of teeth. I did also mouth tape back when I had a beard (granted, it was no lush Melvillian beard like yours, but it was substantial). It's admittedly trickier with a beard, but if you get the right tape it can be done without too much collateral damage
Wow conclusion.
Thanks, Mike. I can imagine you could relate to that last line
I definitely need to work on saying less about things that don't matter.

He made up for it with his sex life :)
Loved it!
Is this autobiographical?

p.s. Nexcare Sensitive Skin tape (blue in color) is what I use
