Love your writing style. You accurately captured a great part of my life as a conscript. I served 18 months in the Commando Unit. I was branded the "Americanaki," so you can imagine how that went.
Ah so you were a Lokachis! A far cry from my three month jaunt. I’m guessing then that your experience was far less farcical than mine (although I’m sure the Amerikanaki epithet carried more sting in your training units)
Constantine, this is a well described example of an engorged ego, a trump-like self-absorbed person of bombast and bluster...but how that results in "peace" is a contradiction, perhaps it is more likely that he would only pause before his gorge began to rise, expand and explode once more...
More likely just a product of the system, doing what he was taught, and confused at the newest generation. I may despise the military, but without discipline, it's a farce that carries the future threat of some guy called Constantine making me smile a lot.
Thanks, Hugh. I think Mike responded to your contradiction better than I could have. As for contradictions, it was only after my time there that I could fully appreciate the absurdist ourobouros zeitgeist of Catch-22
Hilarious! Looking forward to more Mythery.

“A farce that carries the future threat of some guy called Constantine “ 😂
